Southern Methodist's Jalen Jones has been recognized as StatSheet C-USA Freshman of the Week. And finally, Memphis's Joe Jackson has received StatSheet's C-USA 6th Man of the Week. Jackson tallied big numbers in rebounding (2.5 per game), scoring (14 pts per game), and assists (5.5 per game). The Memphis sophomore played well for the Tigers in a win against Xavier and a loss to Southern Miss.
Jackson added 3 assists and 66% shooting in 18 minutes in a 75-72 loss to Southern Miss. That was followed by a team-leading 14 points plus an additional 8 assists in a narrow 72-68 win against Xavier.
This is the first StatSheet C-USA Player of the Week award for Joe Jackson. However, he has received multiple honorable mentions. The runner-up this week is senior Darnell Dodson from Southern Miss. Honorable mention goes to junior LaShay Page from Southern Miss.
StatSheet C-USA Freshman of the Week: Southern Methodist's Jalen Jones
Jalen Jones averaged 29 minutes of playing time as a starter for Southern Methodist. His average in free throws (5.5 per game) topped all C-USA freshmen. In a 62-43 loss to East Carolina, Jones led the Mustangs in scoring with 11 points and in rebounding with 8. Following that in a 59-52 loss to UCF, he led all scoring with 16 points on 66% shooting.
This is a first for Jalen Jones, who has never won the StatSheet C-USA Freshman of the Week. The runner-up is Ricky Tarrant from Tulane. Honorable mention goes to Julian Washburn from Texas-El Paso.

Sophomore Joe Jackson, a 6-1 guard, averaged 24 minutes of action over the two games for the Tigers. In the loss to Southern Miss, Jackson put up 3 assists and 66% shooting. During the win over Xavier, he led all scoring with 14 points and added 8 assists.
This is the first StatSheet C-USA 6th Man of the Week honor for Joe Jackson. Darnell Dodson, a senior guard from Southern Miss, is runner up. Neil Watson, a sophomore guard from Southern Miss, receives honorable mention. The highest ranking 6th man from UCF was Tristan Spurlock who finished 10th.
